About

Konrad Sigl.

I work where design, technology and operations meet. I am interested in solutions that still run a year after launch without someone having to stand next to them.

Attitude

Decisions you can trace

I prefer decisions that can still be justified later: documented, with alternatives, with costs. Speed helps, an overview helps more.

Collaboration

Direct and pragmatic

Short paths, clear answers. At the end stands a route to implementation that holds technically and organisationally, with costs and dates known in advance.

For whom

SMEs from Basel and Switzerland

Retailers, service providers and institutions without an in-house IT department. Consulting, implementation and support come from the same person.

Where

St. Alban-Vorstadt, Basel

On site in the Basel region, remote throughout Switzerland. Whoever designs the system also builds and maintains it and stays reachable afterwards.

Background

From retail to technology and back

I studied design with a focus on process design at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland FHNW. That still shapes my view today: technology is a means of shaping workflows, not an end in itself.

Since 2010 I have been working as a self-employed programmer and web developer, focusing on online retail and inventory systems, and looking after companies in technical support. Alongside that I worked for several years in media technology as a planner, programmer and installer. Since 2017 I have been running the Digital Workshop at the HGK FHNW part-time.

I also know SMEs and retail from the other side of the counter: as a former co-owner of a retail and a hospitality business I have run the till, the stock and the daily business myself. That is where my standard comes from that a system has to work on a Saturday afternoon in a full store, too.

Technically I move between macOS, Windows, Linux, iOS and Android, develop in several programming languages and know the common shop and ERP systems from daily operation. Network technology, hardware and the basics of electrical engineering are part of it; I document installations so that someone else can maintain them. In recent years Microsoft 365, IT security and AI automation have been added as focus areas.

If a project needs design, development, photography or marketing, I bring in specialists I have worked with for years. For you nothing changes, you keep talking to me.
